2014 BOYS BASKETBALL
The 2014 Sagemont Prep boys basketball team’s perfect season was fueled not only by collective effort but also by the standout play of several key athletes whose performances defined the year. Leading the charge was Prince Ali, a dynamic guard and University of Miami commit, whose explosive scoring ability and leadership made him the centerpiece of the Lions’ offense. Ali had a knack for delivering in big moments, consistently putting up double-digit scoring totals and providing the team with the confidence needed to thrive under pressure. Alongside him was Gabriel Gbonkpolo, a versatile forward with exceptional length and defensive presence, who anchored the paint with rebounding and shot-blocking while also contributing offensively when called upon.
The backcourt was further strengthened by Craig Victor II, a powerful forward and LSU signee, who brought physicality, scoring, and toughness to the team. His ability to dominate inside, combined with Ali’s perimeter play, created a balanced attack that opponents struggled to contain. Corey Sanders, a flashy and highly skilled guard, added another layer of offensive firepower. His speed, ball-handling, and ability to score in transition made Sagemont’s fast breaks almost unstoppable. Together, this core group gave the Lions one of the most talented and well-rounded lineups in the state.
Throughout the season, the Lions played in numerous showcase games and tournaments, where their star players consistently impressed scouts and college recruiters. Each athlete accepted his role, blending individual talent into a team-first mentality that drove their success. This chemistry, paired with their sheer athleticism and Coach Adam Ross’s disciplined system, allowed Sagemont to dominate on both ends of the floor. By the time they reached the state championship game, the Lions were not only undefeated but also battle-tested against some of Florida’s toughest competition. Their ultimate victory not only secured the program’s place in history but also highlighted a roster filled with future collegiate stars, making the 2014 season a defining chapter in Sagemont Prep athletics.
