Sagemont Prep Secures Back-to-Back State Championships in 2024The Sagemont Prep Lions claimed the 2024 FHSAA Class 2A Boys Basketball State Championship, earning their second straight title in thrilling fashion with a 50–47 win over Orlando Christian Prep. This victory marked their second consecutive state championship, and the third title in their recent history, further solidifying their position among Florida’s elite programs.

The championship victory came in a hard-fought battle, with Kevin Thomas leading the way—he dropped 19 points in the final. Supporting him were Jordyn Kee, who added 16 points, and Patrick Liburd, who contributed 10 points. Their sharp shooting produced 11 three-pointers that proved crucial in the narrow win.

Coach David Roe emphasized the team’s toughness and defensive focus, noting that “points were not going to win this game—it was who could protect the paint and answer with toughness.”The Lions advanced to the title game after defeating Jacksonville Impact Christian Academy 59–45 in the semifinals.

With this championship, Sagemont Prep not only repeated as state champs but also continued a remarkable rivalry with Orlando Christian Prep—marking the third straight year the two teams met in the final.The 2024 season highlighted Sagemont’s unwavering commitment to defense, chemistry, and execution under pressure.
