M. Douglas Crater Field & Stadium
Home Field Advantage, a nonprofit supporting the M. Douglas Crater Field & Stadium, secured private funds for the project as part of a public-private partnership with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. The new on-campus athletic facility is named in honor of Coach Millard Douglas Crater.
Seventy years ago, Doug Crater graduated from RJR, where he played all sports. He was co-captain of the football team and was recognized as an All-City-County performer. Doug served four years in the US Navy and attended Appalachian State University on a football and academic scholarship, receiving both a bachelor's and master's degree. He returned home to RJR and spent 36 years doing what he loved – teaching and coaching.
