2025 1962 Football

Philip Hightower graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School in 1962. He was a starter at both offensive and defensive end on the football team. His senior year he played in the Shrine Bowl and the East-West All Star football game as a starter at both positions. He was voted All County, All Conference and All American. He received the YMCA Triangle Award for individuals who best exemplify the spirit of a Christian athlete. He was offered a full athletic scholarship to many ACC schools, accepting a scholarship to Davidson College where he was a two-year starter.
