Mark was born March 21, 1968, in Springfield, Ohio. He is a 1986 graduate of Tecumseh HighSchool, and a lifetime resident of the Tecumseh Local School District. He graduated in 1991 fromWright State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for General Motors and Emerson Climate Technologies as an Engineer for over 20 years before going back to college to receive his Master’s in Education Degree. He is currently teaching Physics at Tecumseh High School and has received the Excellence in Education award twelve times from the class valedictorians for making a difference in their education.
Mark has also been a dedicated Tecumseh coach and community service member for the past 33 years. In 1990 Mark became a volunteer assistant coach with the JV Baseball team and in 1993 he became the New Carlisle Middle School basketball coach.Mark coached basketball at Tecumseh for 19 years, which included middle school, freshman, JV, and Varsity Assistant.
Mark has also been the Varsity golf coach for the past five years and Varsity Track coach or the past four years.
For the past 32 years, Mark has served as the Treasurer of the Tecumseh Athletic Boosters. He has worked with this organization raising money to provide financial support for the school’s athletic teams, coaches, and facilities. While Treasurer of the Athletic Boosters, he has helped with many new Athletic Projects, which include the new Athletic Facility Building, the Brick Campaign, and new All-Weather Track just to name a few.
Mark was also an original member of the Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. He served in this position for the first 6 years of the organization and was an active member in inducting Frank Shannon, Wayne Embry, Dave Zeller, and Carl and Betty Roller.
As another major undertaking, Mark volunteered countless hours, and several years, gathering information of the history of Tecumseh Basketball. From this information, Mark developed and created the"Tecumseh Basketball" website which gives Tecumseh athletes recognition outside the school district. Taking years to complete, Mark gathered information and statistics from libraries, school yearbooks, scorebooks, contacted prior coaches, players, and other districts to organize 66 years of information forTecumseh Basketball. This monumental accomplishment will preserve Tecumseh Basketball history for future generations.
Mark has also volunteered with the "chain gang" during Friday night football games for the past 24 years and also was a volunteer scorebook keeper for the basketball program for 8 years.
Mark is the current Athletic Director of Tecumseh Local Schools - a position he is very proud to have. Mark is also currently the Commissioner and the Sports Information Director for the Central Buckeye Conference. This position sends out information to the media on the accomplishments of the student’s athletes, which include all schools from the CBC Conference as well as Tecumseh.
In October, 1992, Mark married Shonette (Abshear) Holbrook and they have been married for 33 years. They are proud parents of two children, Megan and Jason, both graduates of Tecumseh High School.
After Mark graduated from Tecumseh, his service to Tecumseh Athletics and the district began, and continues today. His life-time of service has benefited generations of Arrows and will continue to service our students in the future. He has dedicated and spent countless hours coaching, volunteering, and being a positive role-model in the community and providing a positive learning opportunity for his students inside and outside of the classroom.
He is extremely honored to be inducted into the Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Fame and wishes to thank his family, coaches, friends, school administration, and members of the Tecumseh community.
