Mike Husic (2002)

OUTSTANDING ATHLETE

Graduating from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1990, Mike Husic was involved in many of the programs offered at Tecumseh High School. Mike was involved with school activities by being the freshman and junior class president and his senior class secretary. He was involved in a myriad of activities including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Varsity T club, Ski club, Astronomy club, and Video club. Moreover, Mike was very involved with the Tecumseh athletic programs. He was on the Varsity Football team for four years, Varsity Track for two years and Junior Varsity baseball for one year. He was also involved in the weight program when it was started up at the beginning of his sophomore year.

Although Mike was involved in a great deal of activities at Tecumseh High School, he excelled at football. While playing for the Arrows he was honored by being named Most Valuable Offensive Player his sophomore and senior year and co-team captain his senior year. He was named to the GreaterMiami Valley Conference (GMVC) all league team three out of the four years he played, named to the Springfield Sun, all area, and all county teams his senior year and named in the Who's Who in high school athletics. Mike was also special mention all southwest Ohio and was invited to play in the Dayton area north/south all star game where he was the leading rusher. At the end of his senior year Mike had accumulated seven school records including: career yards 2579, season yards 1230, career touchdowns 31, career points 186, season touchdowns 16, season points 96, and single game touchdowns 4. His excellence and dedication enabled him to become one of the greatest Tecumseh athletes of his generation.

Mike was then honored by receiving a full athletic scholarship to Ohio University where he would play football for the Bobcats and receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.In his four years at Ohio University Mike was involved with Big Brothers for under-privileged youth in Athens, intramural athletics, and was a volunteer for Athens City Schools where he tutored students and helped organize field trips.

After graduating from Ohio University in 1994, Mike was hired as a tutor for Tecumseh Local Schools at Medway Elementary, New Carlisle and Olive Branch Middle Schools until 1996 when he then started teaching learning disabled students at New Carlisle Middle School. In January 1998 he moved to Tecumseh High School where he is teaching learning disabled math and science. Mike has coached middle school track for five years and high school track for one year. He has been a member of the football staff at Tecumseh High School since 1994 and is now the Running Back Coach and Special Teams Coordinator.

Mike is also a site manager for winter sports and runs the clock for freshman basketball games.Mike wanted to return to the Tecumseh Local School District because of the support he received while attending classes and participating in athletics. His excellence as a student athlete has helped him to become an excellent teacher and coach. We are lucky to have such a talented and outstanding person on our staff.
