Served in the U.S. Navy- World War II on L.S.T. 1029
Married Erma Fields in 1946. Joe and Erma have one daughter, Sharon.
Moved to Medway in 1948 to pursue a future in the construction business. Learned drafting at Wittenberg University. From 1948 to 1987 worked for several construction businesses: Timmons, Butt & Head, Sutherly Brothers, and Fryman & Cooke. A few construction jobs included: remodeled or additions to : Wilbur Force University, WPAFB Hospital, Centerville High School, Central State University and Springfield South High School. Joe was also instrumental in the building of Fairborn Park Hills (now Fairborn H.S.), Northmont High School Stadium, Greene Hall @ Greene Memorial Hospital, and the Winterfest at Kings Island.
In the mid-50's, became involved with the Medway Little League through the mid-60's.
From 1965 - 1970, Joe was a "Busy" cheerleading Dad: Projects, Transportation, Fund-raisers, etc.
Added the full-time job of father-in-law to Jim in 1974 and his favorite job of "Grandpa" in 1977. Grandson Brian is now serving in the Navy and Grandson Kyle is a senior at Tecumseh.
Volunteer projects started at Tecumseh in the early 1960's and have continued up to the present.
