Stephanie Dyer-Stevens (2004)

Stephanie Dyer-Stevens was a member of the 1992 graduating class of Tecumseh High School. She was a three sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball and softball her freshman and sophomore years, lettering in all three varsity sports. Stephanie continued to play volleyball and softball her junior and senior years, but decided during her junior year to give up basketball and work aggressively on her pitching. While her basketball teammates practiced on the court, Stephanie pitched behind the bleachers. Her hard work and dedication paid off in her final two seasons at Tecumseh.

Stephanie's softball accomplishments in 1991 included: Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week, she pitched in an All-Ohio Underclassman Tournament and won the state, played in the Southwest DistrictAll-Star Game, Second Team All-State Division I, First Team Al Area, played on the Division | All-StarTeam and Most Valuable Player. Her team was District Champions and the Regional Runner-Up in 1991. In Stephanie's senior year, her softball accomplishments were Athlete of the Week, playing in the Southwest District All-Star Game, First Team All Area, First Team All-State Division I, and Most Valuable Player.

Stephanie set nine school records in her career and they still remain unbroken today. These records include: most strikeouts in a season - 180 (1991), career wins - 32, wins in a season - 15 (1992), career ERA - 1.92, ERA in a season - 0.69 (1992), career shutouts in a season - 8 (1992), career no-hitters - 7, no-hitters in a season - 5 (1992), and most strikeouts in a single game - 17. Stephanie pitched her only perfect game on April 10, 1992.

After graduating from Tecumseh, Stephanie accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Findlay where she continued to have athletic success. Stephanie was an all-time University of Findlay record holder of 16 records. Career records she holds are: most games pitched - 87, completed games - 67, games started - 71, innings pitched - 492.2, strikeouts - 314, and games won - 44. Season records she holds are: most games pitched - 31 (1994), completed games - 22 (1994), strikeouts - 121 (1995),games started - 23 (1994), innings pitched - 172.3 (1994), and victories - 20 (1994). Stephanie was All-District 22 NAJA in 1994, All MOC and player of the week Mid-Ohio Conference in 1995, and named an Academic All-American in 1995 and 1996. While attending Findlay, Stephanie met the love of her life, Kelly Stevens, and in 1999 they married. Stephanie's greatest accomplishment happened on April 9th, 2003, when she gave birth to their son, Connor. (Eleven years after pitching her perfect game at Tecumseh.)

Stephanie started her teaching career at Lincolnview Elementary in Van Wert, Ohio, where she coached junior varsity volleyball and varsity softball. Both of her teams were NWOC champions. She left Lincolnview to come closer to home, accepting a position at Greenon Local where she taught elementary Art for four years. Stephanie coached 7th grade volleyball at Indian Valley and was the junior varsity softball coach at Greenon High School. In 2001, she was very happy to come full circle back to TecumsehLocal where she accepted a position at Park Layne Elementary where she is currently teaching Art today.
