Andy Arnott is a 1986 graduate of Tecumseh High School. He played on the varsity squad in each of his 4 years, lettering 3 times. After playing for the varsity throughout his freshman season, he led the team with 11 points in the final game of the season, a tournament loss to Stebbins.
After losing every other member of the team to graduation, the team struggled in a rebuilding season during Andy's sophomore season. He managed to lead the county and conference in scoring, averaging 19 points a game along with 6 rebounds. Despite the difficult year, he was named 1st team All-County and 1st team Greater Miami Valley Conference, along with being named the Springfield News Sun player of the week.
Andy worked tirelessly during the off-season to improve his game, playing in numerous summer leagues. He credits his coach, Mike Castin, with instilling a good work ethic and not allowing him or the team to get discouraged despite their losing record.
In his junior year all the hard work started to pay off as the team managed to break the losing streak and win some games. Andy led the county again in scoring, averaging 23.1 points per game along with 8 rebounds, while shooting 55 percent from the field. He was again named 1st team All-County and 1" team All-League and earned player of the week honors.
In Andy's senior campaign, the team got off to a fast start going 9-4, before slumping midseason. The team finished strong before losing in the sectional final to Dayton Meadowdale. For the third year in a row he was named 1s team All-County, All-Conference, and player of the week. Additionally, he was named first team All-Area and honorable mention All-State. He averaged 21.4 points per game and grabbed 10.1 rebounds per game, shooting 52 percent from the field and 69 from the foul line.
Andy feels like he learned many valuable lessons playing basketball at THS that have propelled him along in life, such as the value of hard work and determination. Additionally he has many fond memories and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie with his friends and teammates.He set a career scoring record of 1,405 points, scoring double figures in 52 consecutive games and 63 out 65. He also scored 39 points in a game, second highest in school history. In his senior year, Andy shared the Mr. Basketball of Clark County honor with Greenon's Troy McCracken.
Andy also excelled in the classroom with a 4.2 GPA and was ranked 7" in his class. He graduated from Wittenberg University in 1990 with a B.A in Business Administration and New York University in 1995 with an MBA. He has worked for AT&T as a part of a Financial Management training program, and for several financial companies including a Swedish bank and several hedge funds. He is currently a portfolio manager for True North Partners, a money management firm. He is very proud of his wonderful family including his beautiful wife Allison and their two children - Maya, 8 and Tyler, 5. They reside in New York City, where they enjoy all the aspects of city life. He keeps fit by playing basketball with friends in the neighborhood, as well as working out in the gym and running, and enjoys cooking and playing with the kids.
