Thomas "Tom" Pfister was born in Springfield, Ohio to David and Jill Pfister. He grew up east of Donnelsville, Ohio, at the border with the Northwestern School District, with his one sibling, younger brother Jeff. Tom is a 2002 graduate of Tecumseh High School, a co-valedictorian of his class.
Tom was three-sport athlete; Track, Football, and Wrestling, while also contributing to the Arrows weightlifting team.
In football, Tom was a 4-year letterman, playing as a freshman on the 1998 10-0 CBC Championship team, the first Tecumseh football team in history to make the OHSAA playoffs. Tom played on both sides of the field and special teams; as an outside linebacker while rotating on the offense where the team needed him, playing running back, guard, and wide receiver. Following his sophomore year, Tom was honored with 2nd team CBC All-Conference accolades at outside linebacker. While Tom’s junior season was a disappointing team result, Tom was also honored with 1st team CBC All-Conference awards. Tom’s senior season, the 9-1 2001 Arrows squad, was much more successful qualifying again for the OHSAA play-offs and winning two playoff games, the first in Arrows history, before succumbing in the semi-finals round. Tom was awarded 1st team CBC All-Conference, 1st team All-County and Area, and 2nd team All-Southwest District.
Tom led the 2000 and 2001 Arrows teams in tackles and tackles for a loss, while also contributing on the offensive side of the ball at guard and wide receiver, and served as defensive team captain his senior year.
Tom joined the Arrows wrestling squad as a sophomore. Tom wrestled at the 160-lb. weight class his sophomore year. Tom bumped up to the 171-lb. weight class his junior season and won the 171-lb. CBC Championship. He qualified for the District tournament by finishing 2nd in the Sectional tournament. Tom’s senior year he wrested at 189 lbs. Tom finished second in the CBC championship, and qualified for the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament by winning his Sectional, finishing 3rd in the District, and won two matches at the state tournament. Tom finished his senior season 35-12, named as an Academic All-State and awarded All-Conference and All-Area awards. Tom was a 3-year wrestling letter winner.
In the spring of Tom’s freshman year, he joined the track team as a sprinter, running mainly the 100m, 200m, 400m events and participating on various relay teams. Tom enjoyed moderate success as a sprinter, most notably as a member of the Tecumseh record holding 4 x 100m relay team. Tom was a 4-year letter winner for the Tecumseh track team.
While the athletic success is notable, Tom was a standout in the classroom, finishing as a co-Valedictorian of the 2002 senior class.When not doing classwork or athletics, Tom spent time as a member of various student organizations. This athletic and academic success attracted the attention of universities across the country.
Tom attended Carnegie Mellon University as an Andrew Carnegie Scholar in the summer of 2002. Tom was a 4-year letter winner in football. Tom was awarded 2nd team UAA All-Conference his sophomore year. Tom’s junior year saw a season ending knee injury and returned his senior season to finish 1st team UAA All-Conference at outside linebacker. Tom graduated from Carnegie Mellon in 2006 with a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with a concentration in Computational Finance and Discrete Mathematics.
Upon graduation, Tom joined a Pittsburgh, PA data management, analytics and reporting software company, in the asset manage-ment and asset servicing industry, as a business consultant. It was in Pittsburgh when Tom met his wife, attorney Rebecca Magyar.Tom and Rebecca married in 2014 in Pittsburgh, PA. Shortly thereafter Tom and Rebecca relocated to London, United Kingdom to lead his company’s European expansion efforts. Tom currently serves as Vice President of Global Product Strategy responsible for defining product strategy, the commercial product performance, and overseeing the planning, development, execution across the software development lifecycle to deliver differentiated solutions in a highly competitive market.
Tom and Rebecca are expecting their first child in February of 2018.
Outside of the office, Tom enjoys staying active in amateur sporting leagues, and his most important role as husband and father-to-be.
Tom’s athletic, academic and professional success could not have been possible without the loving and constant support of hisfamily. Tom would like to thank the dedication of the Tecumseh faculty, staff, coaches and administration for their role making thissuccess imaginable. Tom is honored to become a member of the Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Fame.
