Tammy Schiller Justice (2000)

OUTSTANDING ATHLETE

Induction Year: 2000 | Graduation Year: 1988

Tammy (Schiller) Justice graduated with the Tecumseh High School class of 1988, ranking 14th in her class. Tammy was honored with a full Athletic Scholarship to Bowling Green State University, as well as the Ron Manneman Scholarship.

During Tammy's three years at Tecumseh, she was a three-sport star (volley-ball, basketball, and softball). Tammy was especially a standout on the volley-ball team. She was also actively involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the Muse Machine, and a member of the National Honor Society.

After earning District 9 Volleyball Player of the Year at Tecumseh High School, Tammy went on to Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in 1988 where she continued her career and received her BSBA in Finance in 1992. Tammy's determination as a star volleyball player continued at the college level - it marked the beginning of a marquee career. Justice is BGSU's first and only All-Mideast pick (1990-91) and she claimed Mid-American Conference Player of the Year. When asked about her BGSU career highlight, Tammy is quoted as saying "We ran into a Western Michigan team that had gone 98-0 and beat them for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) title in my sophomore year." She was also an All-MAC first-team choice for three straight seasons. As a senior, she ranked in the nations top 10 in kills and hitting percentage.

Tammy is the all-time leader on most career volleyball charts at BGSU. She also performed for the U.S. Olympic Team in 1990-91, leading the west team to a silver medal in '90 and the south team to a gold medal in '91. The culmination of her career was her induction into the Bowling Green State University Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of her all-time volleyball feats with the Falcons. This is Tammy's all-time claim to fame.

Tammy and college sweetheart, Greg Justice, were married in 1993 in New Carlisle. They have one son, Kort Patrick, and they currently reside in Vandalia Ohio.

Also among her many accomplishments, Tammy was a semi-pro in Norway for 3 months in 1996, and tried out for two teams in Switzerland and Germany. She could have landed with a team in Europe, but there was no guaranteed job for Greg. So after playing for three months in Norway, Tammy joined her husband at Piqua High School where they were a"package deal" for the Piqua High School Indians varsity and reserve volleyball teams. The "Justice Team" led a powerful program that collected five straight Greater Miami Valley Conference titles and twice reached the state tournament level.

Tammy is a very positive role model for student athletes. She is quoted as saying "I had a wonderful, injury-free career, and many great memories." She is currently a Homemaker and a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer.

Tammy is the epitome of hope and determination and we are proud to induct her into the Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Fame .
