Terry Wenger (2000)

OUTSTANDING ATHLETE

Terry was a model Tecumseh High School student with a distinction of ranking #9 in his graduating class of 1969. Terry participated in football, basketball, and baseball during his three years at Tecumseh. Under the coaching abilities of previous Hall of Famer, Bob Davis, baseball came to yhe top of being Terry's greatest sporting achievement.

During his junior year, Terry pitched a perfect game, player on the All-League Baseball Team both his junior and senior years, and ha had the honor of playing in the East/West All-Star Game during his last year of high school. He also lettered in both football and baseball.

While in high school, Terry still found time to participate in many extra-curricular activities. These included band, honor society, FTA (President senior year), Varsity T club, lab assistant, scholarship team, symphonic band, science club, JCOWA, library club, and French Club. Terry was an honor graduate and recipient of a scholarship award.

Ohio University was the college of Terry' choice. He graduated for OU in 1973 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. Terry's collegiate baseball team was quite impressive as well. He made 1st team 1-A Academic All-American on 1971 and 1972; 1st Team American Conference (MAC) in 1971, 1972, and 1973; and OU Scholarship Athlete of the Year in 1973. He lettered four years at OU as pitcher with an impressive 19-6 record. He played in summer leagues in Springfield and Dayton and was selected to All_Tournament Team in 1969. He also pitched an inning in the College World Series as a freshman in 1970.

Currently Terry is an Expediting Engineer with Camile Products Company in Michigan. He and his wife, Kristi, reside in Midland, Michigan with their seven children: Eric, Adam, Ian, Trisha, Greg, and twins Morgan and McKenzie. He is son of Richard Wenger (former Tecumseh High School Football Coach and Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Famer) and Angela Wenger (now deceased). Mrs. Wenger was also a teacher in our school system.

Terry continued his involvement with baseball after college by participating in his community. He was a manager of both the women's and men's softball teams, president of the Midland Softball Association in 1985, and served on the Midland Softball Association Board from 1981 to 1985. He also found time to officiate high school football from 1977 to 1990. In his spare time, he taught religious instruction at his church.

As Terry has demonstrated, he is very deserving of the honor of being inducted into the Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Fame.
