George William (Bill) Trostel was born August 15, 1924 in New Carlisle, Ohio, the son of Garrett P. and Martha Elizabeth (Sutton) Trostel. Bill was a 4th generation funeral director. He and his family have a long and dedicated history of providing professional and courteous service to the public in both the funeral and furniture business since 1888 in New Carlisle.

Bill was a 1942 graduate of New Carlisle High School and a member of the 1940 Class B State Champion Basketball team. After graduating from high school, Bill attended Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

Bill was a Past Patron of the New Carlisle Eastern Star,Past Master of New Carlisle Masonic Blue Lodge,Past President of the New Carlisle Sertoma Club, Past President of District #3 Funeral Directors and a Ruling Elder at Honeycreek Presbyterian Church in New Carlisle. Bill was an avid sports enthusiast, playing semi-professional basketball for Eagle Tool Co., and he had the distinction of getting the first hole-in-one at Sugar Isle Golf Course.

Bill was one of the original Tecumseh High School Athletic Boosters, giving many hours and much more encouragement to the many athletes and the various sports programs, especially basketball. Bill drove the starting five basketball players to tournaments in the Funeral Home's ambulance.

Bill died May 15, 1981, at the age of 56. He left behind his loving family and friends but he will always be remembered for the many contributions and promotions of Tecumseh High School Athletics.Tecumseh High School is proud to induct Mr.Bill Trostel into the Tecumseh Athletic Hall of Fame.
