Paul is one of the four founding coaches of the Cadillac Wrestling Club formed in 2014. Which led to the reinstatement of Wrestling to the Cadillac High School sports lineup in the 2020-21 winter sports season. Paul also coached Middle School Football in Cadillac for 7 years.

Before coming to Cadillac he was a volunteer wrestling and soccer coach in Manistee. Volunteer Baseball Coach in Peters Township/Pittsburgh. Directed preseason training for the Point Park College Girls' Basketball and Baseball teams. As well as the Duquesne University Rowing teams while Program Director at the Downtown YMCA of Pittsburgh. Paul is a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in Health and Physical Education.

In the days when he was playing sports his sports were Football, Wrestling and Baseball at North Tama High School. He then continues his academic and athletic career in Football and Wrestling at Buena Vista College - both located in Iowa.
