The heart of the Geneseo defense, McManus played with a unique intensity, combining a tough, physical and relentless style while taking on the opponents' top offensive player.  A native of Syracuse, New York and graduate of West Genesee High School, McManus aided the Knights to a record of 39-15 over four seasons. A 1975 USILA All-Conference selection, McManus led the Geneseo defense to back-to-back ECAC Upstate championships in 1974 and 1975 for Geneseo Hall of Fame Coach Paul Rose. His Hall of Fame nomination materials included nearly a dozen inspiring letters of support from his teammates, a true testament to his contributions on and off the field as a Geneseo Knight. McManus passed in 2017 at the age of 62 after battling cancer.
