In 2013 Smith won the program's fifth NCAA individual title during the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

At the time she set a school record for the 3,000 steeplechase, running a time of 10:17.38.

She was able to outrun the defending National Champion and claim the title for herself.
