Article on Bill Holmes in The Southwester, February 9, 1962:
William Holmes, the men’s physical education instructor at SWOC is a graduate of Hutchinson Jr. College in Kansas and a graduate of Kansas State College in Pittsburg, Kansas. Between his graduation from Hutchinson JC and his entrance in Pitt. State (I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be listed as Kansas State), he spent two years in the Armed Forces.
For his graduate work he attended the University of Colorado and graduated in the summer of 1959. After he received his master’s degree, he taught for two years in the public school system in Newton, Kansas.
Holmes has high expectations for SWOC. In the next two years there will be 11 junior colleges in Oregon, and he feels SWOC will be the leader of these junior colleges. In his opinion, SWOC will grow and help set the pattern for the others.
