Cathy played basketball, volleyball, and track & field during her career at Taylor High School. She was co-captain for the volleyball team both her junior and senior years. She was selected to the Hamilton County League AlI-Star ist Team in volleyball during her senior year. In basketball, as a junior, Cathy played on the 1979 State Semi-finalist Team. In her senior year, she averaged 21 points and was honored as most valuable player. Other awards Cathy received as a senior were the Robert E. Cavanaugh Memorial Athlete of the Year, the Dennis Seaver Ath-Demic Award, and the Orite Weber V.F.W. Girl Athlete Award.
