'89 '06 Football | Basketball | Wrestling

Dana was one of the best athletes ever to attend Taylor High School. He participated in football, wrestling and basketball. He was outstanding in football and wrestling. He lettered 4 years in football and 2 in wrestling. He led the football team in 1987 and 1988 in tackles, with 59 and 80 respectively. He was the MVP in 1988. His wrestling career was culminated with District championships in 88 and finishing 11th in the State championship in '89. He was also named MVP in wrestling. Dana was awarded all star recognition numerous times. He was All-League football in 1987 and 1988 and in wrestling in 1988 and '89, All-City football in '87 and '88 and wrestling in '88 and '89. He played in both the East-West and North-South AlI-Star football games in 1989. Dana went on to play 4 years of football at the University of Kansas. While at Kansas, his team went to the Aloha Bowl and he played in the Hula Bowl. He finished his college career by making numerous tackles as an All-Star in the Hula Bowl. He was named All-Conference in the Big 8 in 1993. Dana was drafted 26th by the San Francisco Forty-niners in 1993. He played 12 years in the NFL with the distinction of being one fo the best pass rushers for his entire career. He led the League with 15 sacks and played on the forty-niners Super Bowl XXIX Championship tame. In addition he was Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1993, Defensive Player of the Year in 1997 and selected to the Pro Bowl in '95 and '97.
