Nick participated in football, wrestling and track for Taylor High School from 1989 to 1993. In football, he was MVP as a sophomore and was selected Cincinnati Hills All-League both his sophomore and junior years. He was ist Team All-League his senior year. In wrestling, Nick was MVP his junior year. As a senior, he finished ist place in the District Meet and placed 5th at the State Meet. He was selected 1st Team All-League. In Track & Field, Nick was MVP as both a junior and senior. He qualified for the Regional Meet as a sophomore, junior and senior. In 1993, Nick broke the Taylor High School Discus-Throw record with a distance of 167'-11". Nick was selected as Cincinnati Enquirer Student of the Week.
