Harold, a 1949 graduate, was an outstanding athlete for Taylor. He received 13 varsity letters football (3), basketball (2), track (4) and baseball (4). Harold was blessed with terrific athletic ability and tremendous speed. Harold was a halfback on the football team his junior and senior years which were the first two seasons for eleven man football. During the war years six man football was played. As a senior he scored 110 of the 185 total points. He was also selected as the player of the week in Greater Cincinnati. Harold, as a senior, excelled in track. He ran a 10.1 second 100 yard dash in the Class V Hamilton City meet for first place. In addition he won the 220 yard dash and anchored the first place 880 yard relay team. He placed second in low hurdles. When Harold was not running track, he played center field on the baseball team that won the State Class B Championship in 1949. During his last three years, his batting average was .333, 360 and 433 respectively. In 1949 Harold attended Northeast Mississippi State Junior College on a full football scholarship and was the school's first All-American player. He transferred to the University of Kentucky for his sophomore year, Harold felt an obligation to his country, so in 1950 he left college and enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War. Today Harold resides in wester Hamilton County with his wife, Wanda. His four children are Harold Jr., Joe, Kelly and Martha. He has 17 grandchildren and attends numerous aathletic events.
