Oz played football, basketball and baseball at Taylor High School. In baseball, he caught, but also played infield and outfield. He was a member of "Bo" Betz's 1965 District Championship Team. In football, Oz led the team in tackles both his junior and senior years, earning All-League and All-City honors. He was the Defensive Captain for the 1964 Hamilton County League Championship Team that led the city in defense which helped Coach Don McMillan to be recognized as Coach of the Year in the city of Cincinnati. Oz went on to play football for the University of Cincinnati where he received a football scholarship. Oz played football, basketball and baseball at Taylor High School.
