Mark earned three varsity letters in football and baseball while at Taylor. In football, he was the leading scorer in the city, receiving All-League and All-City honors as well as named WSAI Player of the Week. His team won the 1964 Hamilton County League Championship. In baseball, Mark's speed made him a great lead-off hitter and centerfielder. He was a member of the "Bo" Betz's 1965 District Championship team.
