Thom, a 1971 graduate, received nine varsity letters football (3), swimming (3) and track (3). He co-captained all three teams his senior year. He was selected to the all-league Hamilton County football team in '70. He also led the team in tackles. Thom was an outstanding diver on the swim team. He led the team in total points for three seasons. Thom was an excellent student who was involved in many aspects of the school. He made the honor roll and was a member of the National Honor Society for three consecutive years. He was elected president of Student Council and the Varsity Club. He also gave the morning announcements during his senior year. Thom is now an art teacher at South Ripley Elementary School.
