Martin Kraus received a total of ten varsity letters during his high school career. He garnered three for football, three in track, two for basketball and two in baseball. Two years in a row, 1939 and 1940, Kraus earned letters in all four sports. On the first baseball team to ever represent Taylor High School at the state level, Kraus was playing centerfield when they reached the state finals in 1939. Martin also qualified in the discus event at the district track meet and represented Taylor High School in the 1940 state track meet.
