Jim graduated from Taylor in 1956. During his high school years, he participated in football, basketball, swimming and frack as well as various clubs. In football Jim played for three different coaches: Vern Ullom, Bob Meader and Don McMillan. He earned two varsity letters and was an outstanding halfback on Coach McMillan's '54 and 55 teams. His senior year he served as a captain and gained over 1000 yards rushing. He was ranked 4th in the city of Cincinnati. Jim also had the distinction of playing on two Hamilton County Championship teams 1952 and 1955. Both had records of 9-1. As a senior he received honorable mention all-city in the Cincinnati Enquirer. Jim was a guard on the basketball team and received two varsity letters. The team's record his junior year was 17-5. As a senior the team posted an 18-3 record and made it to the third game of the tournament. Jim was a member of the swim and track teams. On the swim team, he swam on a relay and was a diver. He was the high point scorer at the Hamilton County meet. In track he did the pole vault, broad jump and anchored the 880 yard relay team which finished first. In the 1952 county meet, Jim was the individual high scorer. Jim and wife, Zana, live in Aurora, In. They have two sons, Jeff and David, and three grandchildren who are involved in athletics.
