Harold "Bo" Betz was born in Cincinnati Sedamsville, Ohio in 1928. "Bo" attended Western Hills High School where he played football, basketball, baseball and tennis. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University lettering in football all four years. "Bo" was selected to the All-conference team, helping Ohio Wesleyan to an Ohio Conference League championship and an 8-0 season. "Bo" received his Masters in Physical Education at Ohio State.

He came to Taylor in 1955 and stayed until 1966. As Assistant Football Coach his teams were League Champions in 1958, '59, '62 and '64. 

He manage the Yellow Jacket's baseball team to League Championships in 1960, '63 and '64; District Champs 1962-1965: Regional Champs in 1962; and State Champions in 1962. "Bo" was named the "Ohio" State Coach of the Year in 1962 and coached the West All-Star Team to their first victory over the East. 

After leaving Taylor "Bo" moved to California where he continued to teach and coach until he retired in 1992.
