Kevin O'Shea HOF Class of 2026

A Maverick whose legacy spans more than four decades—as a player, a teacher, a coach, and a leader at the highest levels of Indiana high school football - Kevin O'Shea, a member of the McCutchen High School class of 1984.

Kevin's journey in football excellence began at McCutcheon, where he was a standout quarterback from 1981 to 1983. During his playing career, he earned two all-state selections, was named region IV player of the year, and competed as a north all-star, establishing himself as one of the premier quarterbacks in the state preparing him for what would become an extraordinary football career.

He continued his playing career at franklin college, where his impact reached the national stage. as a quarterback from 1984 to 1987, Kevin became a national player of the week, the NAIA national passing leader, and the NAIA national total offense leader, cementing his reputation as one of the most accomplished players in franklin college history.

After earning his degree in mathematics and secondary education, Kevin devoted nearly 30 years to teaching, while simultaneously building one of the most successful coaching careers Indiana has a record of 249–121, leading programs at delta high school, McCutchen High School, Lafayette Central Catholic, north central high school, and currently Twin Lakes High School.

At McCutchen, Kevin led the Mavericks to conference championships, a 4A sectional title, and top-10 state rankings—continuing the proud football tradition of this school. However, his coaching success reached historic levels at Lafayette Central Catholic, where he guided teams to five state championships, including four consecutive undefeated state titles, and engineered a 48-game winning streak, the second-longest in Indiana history. His teams earned national recognition, including national catholic school team of the year honors.

Kevin’s leadership and excellence have been recognized statewide and nationally. He is one of only seven coaches in Indiana history to win five or more state championships and the first coach in state history to win four consecutive state titles. his honors include multiple Indiana Football Digest Griddy Coach of the Year awards, Indianapolis colts coach of the week and coach of the year honors, IFCA leadership roles, and induction into the Indiana football hall of fame.

Beyond wins and championships, Kevin O’Shea’s impact is found in the countless student-athletes he has mentored—both on the field and in the classroom—and in his commitment to academic excellence through his long service as IFCA academic all-state chairman.

Kevin’s legacy also lives on through his family, including his wife Jennifer and their three children and through the many communities and programs he has shaped across Indiana football.
