Williams Bay High School

Hank Johnson is the athletic director at Williams Bay High School, leading a one-person department that oversees both middle and high school athletics while working every day to strengthen programs and build a positive, community-focused culture. He is known for clear, timely communication with students, families, and coaches, and for personally stepping in to resolve challenges like scheduling conflicts and finding replacement JV games so younger athletes still get meaningful playing time.

Hank organizes school-wide events, promotes co-op programs, and runs leadership groups at both the middle and high school levels that include athletes from every sport and ability, helping unify the entire school around respect, sportsmanship, and community. He has also introduced initiatives like revamped awards nights, enhanced branding, improved game-day operations, and a comprehensive grade-check system that supports student-athletes academically. Working mostly behind the scenes, he pours everything into creating positive experiences—contributions reflected in Williams Bay earning the WIAA Award of Excellence for the past two years as one of the smallest schools recognized.
