Patrick “Positive Pat” Mahoney has spent more than two decades leading Catholic high school athletics, earning multiple state championships and recognition as IADA Athletic Director of the Year across both 1A/2A and 3A/4A divisions. At DePaul College Prep, he has guided the department through rapid school growth, launching new programs from the ground up and helping plan and develop top-tier facilities—stadiums, gyms, and more—that elevate the experience for athletes, coaches, and the wider community.

Pat has intentionally grown the athletic staff from two to six full-time employees and over 100 coaches, uniting them through quarterly meetings focused on mentorship, shared values, and equitable opportunities for all athletes. Known for his mantra “Be Positive, Pass it On!”, he shows up at every home event, tirelessly serving others and creating a culture where athletes, coaches, and families feel supported, connected, and proud to wear DePaul Prep across their chest.
