CHRIS MADSON
Athletic Director
McHenry High School
Chris Madson is an alumnus and athletic director at McHenry who leads with servant leadership, building a unified culture where athletes and coaches feel genuinely seen, supported, and responsible for one another. He has modernized the department through expanded weight room facilities, cutting-edge tools like PERCH velocity-based training, and major facility upgrades—including a new video scoreboard and data-integrated baseball field—while using Gipper and other digital platforms to create a consistent, professional McHenry Athletics brand. Under his leadership, McHenry has launched emerging opportunities like Girls Wrestling and Girls Flag Football, implemented uniform-rotation and equity-minded policies, and introduced seasonal Athletics Town Halls to align families, athletes, and coaches around shared expectations and vision. Beyond infrastructure, he’s built systems like the Make Your Mark leadership series and college pathways support to develop “great people” first, backing it all with an open-door policy and quiet gestures of care that earn deep trust across the community.
