Coppell ISD

Kit Pehl is a student-centered athletic director who works tirelessly to ensure every sport and athlete in Coppell ISD is supported at a high level. He has expanded opportunities for students by launching new middle school programs such as middle school wrestling and even stepped back into coaching this year to ensure the girls’ basketball team had a quality leader on the sidelines. Kit stresses character development across the department, requiring coaches to teach life lessons weekly and working hard to align middle school and high school staffs through shared standards, collaboration, and regular coaching socials.

He also looks “outside the box” to support programs, including building vendor relationships that provide free products and being flexible with coaching roles so every team has strong leadership. After 33 years of coaching, one staff member calls him “the best boss I have ever had.”
