JASON "JAY" COSTA

Athletic Director

Shrewsbury Public High School

Jason “Jay” Costa is a tireless leader whose dedication to student-athletes, coaches, and the Shrewsbury community has transformed the local athletic landscape. A lifelong Shrewsbury resident and former student-athlete, Jay returned to his hometown to teach, coach, and lead the athletic department, growing opportunities for students at every level.

Jay’s impact includes privately funding and overseeing major facility projects such as the high school turf field, weight room renovations, baseball field improvements, and stadium press box—projects that provide state-of-the-art resources for athletes without burdening taxpayers. He has also expanded athletic opportunities for middle school students and lowered athletic fees to increase access for all families.

A proven culture-builder, Jay hosts annual leadership summits for student captains, fosters strong mentorship for coaches, and promotes character, teamwork, and leadership throughout the athletic department. His influence extends statewide, serving in leadership roles with the MA Football Committee, Baseball Committee, MIAA tournaments, and previously as MSSADA president.
