TROY JOHNSON
Athletic Director
Fern Creek High School
Troy is an exemplary athletic director whose innovative leadership has transformed the Fern Creek athletic experience and enriched the broader JCPS community. Named High School AD of the Year in 2024–25, he has played a pivotal role in initiatives ranging from facility renovations and tournament expansions to launching the Junior AD program, giving students hands-on experience in sports management.
For over 20 years, Troy has been a cornerstone of the Fern Creek community, serving not only as Athletic Director but also as director of local youth programs, including Fern Creek Babe Ruth and Optimist League. A champion of diversity and inclusion, he has hired dozens of minority head coaches and mentored newly appointed minority ADs, helping shape a more equitable and representative athletics environment.
In a large district of over 100,000 students, Troy has set new standards in leadership: advocating for facility upgrades, serving as a brand ambassador for Adidas, and being the first to implement modern athletic programs such as student Junior ADs. His vision, dedication, and commitment to student-athletes have left a lasting impact on Fern Creek and JCPS Athletics.
