Dr. Amanda Faunce is a respected leader who has shaped Lawrence Free State’s athletic culture through vision, grit, and a deep commitment to equity. She founded the SALT (Student-Athlete Leadership Team) organization to intentionally develop student-athletes as leaders who model excellence on and off the field, a program that has since grown in size and influence across the state of Kansas. Known for insisting that every athlete—regardless of sport or level—deserves the same visibility, support, and respect, she has worked diligently to ensure truly equitable coverage and treatment across all programs.

When a newly hired Athletic Director departed, Dr. Faunce stepped back in and successfully carried both the AD and Associate Principal roles for an entire semester at a 6A school, underscoring her professionalism, resilience, and dedication as one of the few women in her field.
