CRYSTAL MASSENBURG

Athletic Director

South Garner High School

Crystal Massenburg is being nominated for the Gipper Hall of Fame for her equity-driven leadership and transformative impact on South Garner’s athletes, coaches, and community. Under her guidance, Titans programs have reached historic conference and state-level milestones across multiple sports, while she prioritizes academic and personal growth for every student-athlete. She founded TEAMS (Titans Engaging in Athletic Mentorship and Success), a student leadership group that mentors younger students, supports feeder schools, volunteers at local food banks, and helps host middle school athletic eventsβ€”building connection and pride across the wider community. As NCADA and NIAAA teaching faculty, she mentors coaches and advances practices that ensure all sports, not just the major ones, receive equitable recognition and resources. As a Black female athletic director, she is committed to breaking barriers and modeling that excellence in leadership knows no bounds of race or gender.
