With more than four decades in education as a teacher, coach, and athletic director, Jacob “Jake” von Scherrer has built a career centered on elevating every sport and every student-athlete. As an AD and head football coach, he consistently championed all programs—especially girls sports—ensuring every team was well funded, well coached, and recognized through robust seasonal awards that celebrated academic, athletic, and community achievements. He strengthened culture by launching monthly coaches meetings and a captains council, giving coaches and student-athletes a voice in theme nights, homecoming activities, and community outreach.

Jake’s leadership showed up in meaningful details, from creating a memorable signing day experience and developing student PA announcers who went on to announce in college, to personally delivering supplies to families during COVID. In “retirement,” he continues to serve the profession as a podcast host, author, clinic leader, and NIAAA national faculty member.
