Matt Shellenberger leads Piedmont athletics with a relentless student-first mindset, working every day to build a championship culture on and off the field. He is a constant presence at nearly every event across all sports—and, as the leader over fine arts as well, he shows up just as faithfully for band contests, choir concerts, and drama productions. Matt keeps the entire community connected through a weekly Gipper-powered newsletter that highlights team wins, individual achievements, and coach milestones, modeling communication and servant leadership for his department.

As the district grows, he is driving key initiatives like a school Hall of Fame, coaches shows, a Nike partnership, and coach and athlete of the month awards to elevate recognition and pride. Whether he’s mopping the gym floor or taking out trash after games, Matt is known as a “true servant leader” and a leader his coaches deeply respect.
