Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools

Steve Robinson is a district athletics leader whose vision and dedication have elevated school-based sports across Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, North Carolina, and beyond. He launched the first district-wide middle school championships in one of the nation’s largest school systems, giving thousands of young athletes new opportunities to compete, grow, and experience the power of education-based athletics. As President of the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association and a contributing author of the new national DEI course, he has helped shape how athletic administrators lead, mentor, and build inclusive, equity-centered programs statewide and nationally.

His influence extends beyond athletics as he also coordinates 33 graduations and rehearsals each year, bringing together students, families, and staff in celebration—reflecting a career devoted to uniting communities and expanding opportunity through sport and education.
