Drawing on his own experience transforming a small, struggling program, Curtis has reshaped department culture to ensure every team—regardless of record, size, or history—receives equal access to resources, visibility, and support, boosting morale and participation across all sports. He has strengthened school–community connections through programs that actively engage athletes in giving back, celebrating staff, and inspiring younger students, creating a culture of inclusion and trust. By modernizing processes, balancing facility access, and innovating recognition programs, Curtis has elevated the professionalism and impact of the department, showing that athletics matter not just for wins, but for shaping people and community. His leadership, grounded in resilience, gratitude, and lived experience, has left a lasting legacy of equity, opportunity, and pride at Coxsackie-Athens.
