NORM GALLANT
Athletic Director
Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School
Norm has dedicated his career to spotlighting athletes and creating exceptional experiences for students at every level. Over his tenure, he has raised approximately $1.3 million, installed a video board, managed all school social media and communications, and written local newspaper articles to ensure every achievement is celebrated. A true servant leader, Norm supports all student-athletes and artists, creating events that engage the entire K–12 student body and foster school spirit. Coaches and colleagues trust him implicitly, knowing he always prioritizes students’ best interests and cultivates a culture of mutual respect across programs. His leadership extends beyond the school as he serves in regional and state positions to strengthen programs across the state. Remarkably, just two days into his tenure in 2010, Norm faced an EF4 tornado that destroyed a quarter of the community, yet he led the athletic department to start the fall season on time, culminating in a 33–0 volleyball season and the school’s first State Title—demonstrating resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to student success.
