BOBBY RUSHTON
Athletic Director
Wilton High School
In just three years, Bobby has transformed Wilton’s Athletic Department into a modern, connected, and student-centered program through innovative communication strategies and an unwavering commitment to educational athletics. By replacing outdated methods with a dynamic social media presence, he has elevated the visibility of current and former athletes, celebrating their accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom while significantly boosting game attendance and community support. His efforts to highlight alumni achievements have strengthened pride and unity across generations, culminating in the revival of the school’s long-dormant Athletic Hall of Fame through Gipper—restoring a cherished tradition and deepening the sense of legacy within the program. A true educator at heart, Bobby views athletics as a vehicle for developing leadership, service, and lifelong character; he regularly brings in mentors, experts, and alumni to inspire student-athletes, guide their growth, and prepare them for opportunities beyond high school. Guided by a philosophy that athletics must always serve the long-term well-being of students and families, he has fostered an environment where sportsmanship thrives—evidenced by Wilton’s repeated recognition with the CT State Sportsmanship Award—and where 63% of students proudly participate in athletics. From amplifying student voices to shaping a culture rooted in excellence and integrity, Bobby has become the biggest champion of every Wilton athlete and a transformative leader for the entire community.
