2025 Women's Cross Country
In a record-setting performance, the Green Level Gators captured the NCHSAA 8A Women’s Cross Country State Championship on November 1, 2025, posting a winning team score of 69 points at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, NC.
Key Highlights & Star Performers
Sadie Wortman – Top 10 Individual Finisher – Sadie placed 7th overall with a time of 18:48.64, anchoring the Gators’ strong pack performance and setting the tone early in the race.
Kaylene Bustos – Sportsmanship Winner – A steady and determined performer all season, Kaylene earned the official NCHSAA Sportsmanship Award for the 8A women’s division and played a vital role in Green Level’s championship effort.
Team Depth – The Gators placed their top five runners in the top 30, including four in the top 20, showing remarkable balance and teamwork. Scoring runners included Sadie Wortman (7th), Kaylene Bustos (16th), Naomi Greengrass (18th), Neela Chintapalli (20th), and Kayde Lareau (30th).

Coaching & Program Impact –Under the leadership of Megan & Michael Mansy, the Gators achieved their first-ever state title in women’s cross country. Both Megan and Micael ran collegiately at NC State and are no strangers to championship programs. Their emphasis on depth, team unity, discipline, and pack running all played key factors in this historic victory.
Significance & Notes – Green Level’s team victory highlights the strength of a collective team effort. For a program that started in 2019, this marks a rapid ascent to the top of North Carolina’s largest-school classification.
