Eddie Wasdell
Eddie Wasdell grew up right here in the Green Level community and attended Cary High School. He earned All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors all three years as a midfielder and defender for Varsity soccer. He served as a captain for his Junior and Senior years and was named as the team MVP for both of those seasons. His Senior year, after scoring 13 goals and having 18 assists, he was also selected as All-Region and participated in the NCCA East/West All-Star Game. Coach Wasdell also lettered in Track and Football. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill on the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship and played on the Club soccer team there.
He began his coaching career at UNC with the Women’s Club soccer team following an ACL injury. He completed a one year Masters of Arts in Teaching at UNC before taking a teaching position at Middle Creek High School where he coached Men’s and Women’s soccer from 2003-2014, serving first as the JV coach and ultimately coaching Varsity. During his time as the Varsity coach he led the programs to several NCHSAA Playoff appearances with the 2014 Men’s team making a run to the quarterfinals. Coach Wasdell was named the SWAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and holds a USSF National D Coaching License.
Coach Wasdell is excited to get back into coaching after taking a break to focus on his family. He and his wife, Carolyn, have two children, Hayes (15) and Shepp (12). Coach Wasdell enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching his kids play soccer, and cooking in his spare time.
