Kerry Hunt

Kerry was born and raised in Smithtown, NY, where she first started playing tennis. In 6th grade, she qualified for the junior state professional team and played on it until age 15, when she tore both ACLs in a single match. A year later, she moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina, and graduated from Wakefield High School.

She attended UNC-Greensboro for her first two years of college while also serving as an assistant tennis coach. Afterwards, she transferred to UNC-Wilmington, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Though coaching began in college, Kerry had already been involved in athletics through teaching swim lessons in high school and working as a lifeguard at the town pool before moving. Once she began teaching, she served as the softball coach, assistant baseball coach, and later became the school’s athletic first responder. She is excited to return to athletics this year.

In her free time, Kerry enjoys taking her eight dogs on walks and spending time with family and friends.
