Asia Thigpen

Asia Thigpen, a standout athlete at Green Level, quickly rose to prominence as one of the top volleyball players in the state. At Green Level High School, she established herself as a dominant and versatile force on the court, earning recognition as First Team All-State and her conference MVP. Ranked the No. 1 recruit in North Carolina by PrepVolleyball, Asia’s high school career was defined by both accolades and production, highlighted by 364 kills and consistently strong hitting percentages that showcased her all-around skill set.

Her success at Green Level paved the way for a collegiate career at the University of Kentucky, where she joined the Wildcats as a 5’11” outside hitter and libero. Asia wasted no time making her mark in the SEC, earning a spot on the 2024 SEC All-Freshman Team and recognition as SEC Freshman of the Week in October of that year. Her versatility shined in key performances, including a career-high 16 digs against Georgia and a remarkable 15 kills on a .583 hitting percentage versus Tennessee, all while rebounding from a knee injury that tested her resilience.

Asia’s excellence extended beyond conference play, as she earned national attention with her selection as an All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association (AVCA) in 2023. In January 2024, she further cemented her status among the nation’s elite by competing in the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Florida, a showcase of the country’s top talent.

From dominating at the high school level to making an immediate impact in the SEC, Asia Thigpen’s career reflects not only her athletic talent but also her determination and adaptability. With accomplishments spanning All-State honors, All-American recognition, and standout college performances, she has proven herself to be one of the brightest young stars in volleyball.
