Josh Smith
Josh Smith left a lasting legacy on the Green Level men’s lacrosse program as one of its most dominant and decorated players. A four-year starter at the face-off position, Josh anchored the Gators with his relentless work ethic, leadership, and unmatched consistency at the X. His ability to win possessions and control the pace of games made him a cornerstone of Green Level’s success.
Throughout his high school career, Josh compiled remarkable numbers, finishing with 34 goals, 28 assists, and 62 total points. More importantly, he became the North Carolina state record holder in career face-off wins with 1,027, a testament to his skill, strength, and dedication to mastering his craft. He also excelled in ground balls, consistently leading his team in the hustle categories that rarely make headlines but often decide games.
Josh’s accolades reflected his impact on the field and in the classroom. He was named First Team All-Conference three times, earned All-Region and All-State honors, and capped his high school career as a US Lacrosse All-American. Off the field, he was equally impressive, serving as team captain and earning Academic All-Conference honors all four years. His dominance as a faceoff specialist helped Green Level win the 2024 NCHSAA 4A Men's Lacrosse State Championship.
Josh’s career at Green Level showcased what it means to lead by example, combining talent with perseverance and character. His accomplishments paved the way for his continued lacrosse career at Marist University, where he competes at the Division I level. For Green Level, he will always be remembered as a record-breaker, leader, and one of the program’s true trailblazers.
