1962 - UHS HIRES LIZ OSBORN

Elizabeth “Liz” Osborn was a teacher, coach, and school leader at Unity High School in Tolono, Illinois for much of her career. Her professional life spanned 34 years at Unity, where she served not only as a teacher and coach but also as an Assistant Principal during her tenure.

Coaching Career & Achievements

Liz Osborn made a significant impact on Unity High School’s girls athletics programs, especially in volleyball and basketball during the 1970s through the mid-1990s:

Girls Volleyball Coach:

Osborn coached the Unity Rockets girls volleyball team for 23 years, posting an impressive 503-156-1 record. Under her leadership the team consistently contended in regional and statewide competitions, earning numerous wins and conference success throughout her tenure.

Girls Basketball Coach:

She also coached the girls basketball program at Unity, leading the team through several seasons in the 1970s with competitive win–loss records.

Softball:

Records indicate she also coached girls softball for a couple of seasons earlier in her career.

Her volleyball coaching longevity and success were a hallmark of the school’s athletic tradition, and her teams were known for strong performance and consistency
