Thomas Brooks, HS Basketball
Originally from Amarillo, Texas, Thomas Brooks attended Trinity Fellowship Christian School, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He continued his basketball career at Wayland Baptist University, playing power forward/center and helping his team reach the NAIA Tournament. Brooks began his coaching career in 2010 at Arbor Christian Academy before joining Pawnee Heights. Outside of coaching, he works as a counselor for the State of Kansas at the prison in Larned, Ks.
Brooks' love for basketball began at home, playing with friends and watching Michael Jordan. His mom was a major inspiration, encouraging him to try different sports and pursue his interests. He became a coach because he enjoys teaching and training athletes and hopes to make a lasting impact that extends far beyond the court or field.
For Brooks, coaching is about relationships, character, and perseverance—not simply wins and losses. He wants his athletes to give their all, play tough, and, above all, compete with integrity. One of his favorite reminders comes from Coach Valvano: “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” He hopes his players carry those lessons with them long after graduation.
When he's not coaching, Brooks enjoys golf, softball, video games, and relaxing at home. He is a fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, and Oklahoma Sooners, and considers himself the “GOAT at video games.” Above all, Brooks hopes his legacy is that his players remember the good times and the tough times, and always know that he believed in them.
