2020 Inductee

"For twenty-four years, I was privileged to be the tennis coach of Northeastern High School. This experience has been unequaled to any other. I would never trade the memories made, the friendships forged, and the opportunity to represent a school that will forever hold a special place in my heart, Northeastern High School."

The words above from revered tennis coach Jane Warren reflect not only her coaching legacy but also the dedication, service, and professionalism she has demonstrated through her many years as English teacher and guidance counselor at Northeastern High School.

Jane graduated from Springfield North High School in 1984 and then earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in English Education from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1988. She returned to her high school alma mater as an English teacher from 1988-1994. After earning her Masters of Education Degree in School Counseling from The University of Dayton in 1994, Jane accepted a position at Northeastern High School as a school counselor, English teacher, and tennis coach.

During her tenure, Coach Warren led the Girls' Tennis Team for twenty-two seasons, and the Boys' Tennis Teams for twenty-four seasons. Under Jane's guidance during the combined forty-six seasons, Coach Warren and the Jets amassed a record of 363 wins and 225 losses. This unprecedented mark included 12 Ohio Heritage Conference championships. The first championship was earned in 2005, and then from 2008 to 2018, the program posted 11 consecutive Ohio Heritage Conference championships. During this impressive run, both the tennis program as a whole and individual players were receiving numerous awards and recognition.

Coach Warren was also honored at this time by being named the 2011 News-Sun All-Area Coach of the Year and the All-County Girls Tennis Coach of the Year.

"I have always been humbled by the success of our program. We were not overpowering teams; we were unyielding teams. It was how we won those championships that I most respect, with integrity, determination, and a great deal of grit. It is the players who are most deserving of Hall of Fame status. I will always be proud to be called their coach."

For her outstanding coaching career and her many years of dedicated service as teacher, counselor, mentor, and coach, the Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to honor Ms. Jane Warren as our 2020 inductee into the Northeastern High School Hall of Fame.
